Emirates Hills Residence
Luxury Interior Design
Project Overview
This interior design commission for a private villa in Emirates Hills was one of the most demanding briefs we have received: a contemporary Arabic aesthetic that honours the traditions of Gulf hospitality without resorting to pastiche.
The villa is organised around a formal majlis wing — a sequence of reception spaces designed for large gatherings — and a separate family zone with a more relaxed, intimate character. The two zones share a material palette but differ in scale and mood.
Materials were selected for their richness and longevity: honed Omani limestone floors, hand-plastered walls in warm ochre tones, custom joinery in dark-stained oak, and bespoke metalwork in aged brass. Lighting is layered throughout — ambient, accent, and decorative — to allow each space to shift in character from day to evening.
The Challenge
Translating a contemporary Arabic aesthetic into a coherent interior language that works across a 1,100 m² villa with very different spatial characters — from the formal majlis to the family kitchen and children's bedrooms.
Our Approach
A unified material palette — limestone, plaster, oak, brass — is applied consistently across the villa, but scaled and detailed differently in each zone. The majlis receives the most elaborate treatment; the family spaces are warmer and more relaxed.
The Outcome
An interior that the client describes as feeling "like it has always been there" — a home that is clearly contemporary but deeply rooted in the traditions of Gulf domestic life.
